Hiplife artiste Barima Sidney has said he decided to campaign for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in 2016 because of his campaign message and policies.

He told GH Entertainment Show host, Prince Kwesi Dadzie aka Mr. Handsome that, Nana Addo had a message, he campaigned on strong and sound policies and that was why I campaigned for him.

In his view, former President John Dramani Mahama, had no message and that was why he lost the elections.

According to him, Ghanaian voters vote for people based on their sound policies and when you do not have one, people will vote against you, he stressed.

When asked if his expectations are been met under the current administration, he answered in the affirmative and added, ‘’if things start going bad, you will hear from me.

I supported Nana Addo because of his policies and not because of the New Patriotic Party. He described himself as a politician who uses music to express his political opinions.

He said, ‘’I am not one of those who sit on radio to communicate but I do mine through music. When I want to express an opinion on a political issue, I will do so through my music,’’ he added.

Barima Sidney has been off the music since his last release in 2016.

Throughout 2017, he was in Liberia where he was campaigning for the then presidential candidate, George Weah, ahead of Liberia’s election. He was instrumental in George Weah’s campaign.

When asked about his long absence, the controversial musician said, ‘’I know I have been in hibernation for a long time but I have been up other things. As a musician, you just don’t release songs but you have to take your time and release good tracks for them to enjoy. Ghanaians are the ones to decide whether your song is good or not.’’
