Renowned radio personality Kwame Dwumah Mensah aka Dr. Prekese, has disclosed that, though Accra based radio stations have some big names in the radio space, he believes there are better presenters who can be found in other towns and regions and that, they are not the best in the country.

In a one-on-one interview with www.flexgh.com, Dr Prekese made it clear that, because attention is not given to the other presenters who live outside Accra, it makes many people believe that all the best radio personalities are in Accra, which is wrong.

He continued to say that, the biased nature of award schemes which award radio personalities working hard in the radio and television circles don’t even cater for the other radio presenters outside Accra to win the overall best making it look like there are no better presenters outside the capital town, Accra.

“The organisers should have reporters or a team that will monitor the works of other radio personalities across the country, which will bring equality in our radio sector. Either than that, they will be much pressure on radio managers in Accra to employ many people which is impossible,” he stated.

Dr. Prekese who has worked with many radio stations in the capital city including Adom FM, Oman FM among others and currently with Bright FM believes that as a radio presenter you need to test your strength which he has done in his radio career.

Meanwhile, he added there have been some changes in radio presentation these days compared to the previous years when radio began in the country. There are words which presenters were not allowed to use on air. But unfortunately, everything has changed.

According to him, the same applies to Disc Jockeys who play just any song on air unlike some time past.

He again added that, there has been an improvement in radio in the country which has created the opportunity to establish more radio stations in the country.

Finally, the Bright FM drive time host urged his colleagues to update and educate themselves so that they can become relevant in the near future and make radio job very lucrative to the people they serve.
