Celebrated Kumawood star, Kwaku Manu, says most movie stars are doing all kinds of menial jobs in order to survive because the industry appears to be taking a nosedive.

According to him, some of them are hungry coupled with family pressures and will need to work towards the upkeep of their respective families.

The movie star and producer revealed this on Kumasi-based Silver FM in response to why most actors in recent times are often seen on television and radio with Mallams and so-called spiritualists in an unprofessional manner.

“Now we must admit that the movie industry is gradually losing its prominence in the country though some of us have refused to accept this fact. But I wish they would realize it and take it in good faith”. He said.

“Frankly speaking, the industry has collapsed to the extent that, some movie stars you know find it difficult feeding themselves and their families”.

The Comedian is one of the few movie stars who recognize the fact that the industry has gone down.

As a result, he counseled that Ghanaians should minimize the rate at which they pass judgment on ‘prostitutes’ because it not easy living in hunger as some of his colleagues are experiencing.

According to him, most movies stars are now leaving outside Ghana not because they desire to be in their home country but the prevailing circumstances do not support them financially
