Ghanaian dancehall artiste Emmanuel Andrews Samini, popularly called Samini has suggested to the Akufo-Addo government and policy makers to allow farmers in the country grow marijuana.

He explained that some countries are making huge fortunes out of the plant which has been banned in the country.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Kwabena Anokye Adisi popularly known as ‘Bola Ray’, he indicated that the money generated from marijuana sale will help boost Ghana’s economy.

The ‘Linda’ crooner questioned why the country is allowing the plant to go waste when it could have reaped money from it.

"I think that Ghana should be looking at decriminalizing marijuana, lemme drop a statement that if Ghana should decrimalise wee and then also give farmers license to grow wee since it does so well on Ghana soil, to even allow them grow for export, there are countries that have made fortunes out of marijuana export, its not just for smoking or recreational use, but I am talking about the other 33, 000 uses of marijuana plant, you can make jeans fabrics from it, paper from it, oil," he suggested.

Samini indicated his readiness to battle policy makers on the use of marijuana saying it has so many health benefits.

"If Ghana’s economy is struggling and there is a plant, that is not meant to be used on the streets of Ghana, let’s plant it and export it to the streets where they use it and collect money from them, because they have legalised it there and they use it so why not send it to them, you can say you have banned it for people not to smoke it in the streets, but a farmer who has acres of marijuana should be able to grow it, packages it and send to who buys it and make money for the economy," he said.

He refused to mention the date he stopped smoking ‘wee’ saying he doesn’t smoke cigarette.

"I have smoked ‘wee’ before and I wouldn’t deny it, I can’t say I quit because I don’t remember the last time I said I don’t or haven’t smoked before, I wouldn’t say yes and I wouldn’t say no, because it would depend on my mood, I smoked wee this year in Seattle-USA because its legal there, its legal in Holland and a lot of other countries," he said.
