Most musicians are ingrate - Andy Dosty

Celebrated Ghanaian Disc Jockey and Radio Presenter with Multimedia Group Andrew Akwasi Amoh popularly called ‘Andy Dosty’ has launched a scathing attack on musicians and DJs describing them as ingrate.

According to him, musicians he helped to promote their songs through his medium have failed to replicate the gesture by tweeting his songs on their Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms.

He bemoaned that majority of the DJs and presenters he personally groomed in the industry have all rejected his songs.

A disappointed Dosty could not mention names or tell the reason the DJs are not playing his songs during their shows.

Speaking with host of Ultimate FM’s Club Arena Fidel Kuranchie Idan, he wondered why musicians refuse to tweet his songs when he and his production team on his show have been tweeting musicians’ songs.

Dosty further questioned why foreign artistes re-tweet anytime their songs are tweeted but Ghanaian musicians don’t show appreciation by taking a cue from it.

‘There is something going on that a lot of attention hasn’t been drawn yet. I know this is going to create confusion, now anything I say is news, a lot of musicians are ingrate, they are ungrateful, immediately I put out this record, I realised that few musicians on Twitter and Instagram were busy tweetting and posting my artwork on their platforms. I can mention names like Okyeame Kwame, Donzy, Brenya and Piesie, now what is wrong because you sit on radio and promote their songs, that is their only way of showing appreciation.

Look if you if cannot bring me money to promote your music, or you cannot buy me a wrist watch, head phones something that will aide in my work… So if I sit on radio and I am promoting an artiste and somebody sits somewhere and talk and or say anything that may not sound properly in my ears, I mean its not right… lets says a musician, Sarkodie has hundreds and thousands of followers and so if he tweets this is from my brother Andy, you can imagine the number of people who may want to download. Because if I play Sarkodie’s song, we twit it, and he may not even come to re-tweet, does it mean he doesn’t appreciate what we are doing or what?.

Artistes here are tweeting about Tanzania, Nigeria radio stations, Jimmy Jart and other foreign artistes. We are always afraid of the truth, lets hit the nail right on the head,’ he complained.

He admonished the musicians and DJs to remember their roots adding that they shot to fame because of the help of some older and new DJs.

‘You started from nowhere and now you are somewhere, remember your roots, its so sad,’ he fumed.

Touching on his latest song featuring Kesse titled ‘Never give up’, Andy Dosty hinted that it took him three years to work on the song which went through five top notch producers.

He disclosed that he has collaborative songs with artistes such as Stonebwoy, Joe Frazier and others which are yet to be released.

‘‘I never give up on this song until I had the perfect sound, that pleased my ears,’ he disclosed.
