I regret joining TH4Kwages – Fiifi Selah

A former member of defunct TH4Kwages music group, Fiifi Selah has unequivocally stated that he regrets joining the group.

According to him, joining the group just did not help him as someone who started as a solo artiste and had always wanted to remain as one.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Friday, Fiifi Selah who recounted the history behind the formation of TH4Kwages said Atsu, Sane Dogg, Shortman and himself took a decision to break away from SASS Squad music group because the management at the time infiltrated the group with their girlfriends.

As colleagues who referred to themselves as Takoradi’s Highest Four (4) even before the name SASS Squad which was their initials, they thought of adding ‘Kwages’ because the person who wanted to produce them had a record label called ‘4 Ks’.

Sane Dogg and Shortman later did not join which led to Olasty Bingo and Papa Flavour joining. However, he and Atsu Koliko were the face of the group.

The artiste noted that TH4Kwages lost touch when it moved from Takoradi to Accra and that caused the breakup of the group.

Despite how TH4Kwages is documented as a huge brand in the history of hiplife music, he believes joining a music group was not helpful. “Fiifi Selah is on stage and someone asks ‘where is Atsu, when are you coming back as a group?’. They piss me off a lot. Those people who really knew me from day one ask why I didn’t do my stuff. I thank the media a lot but I don’t want to be asked questions like where is Atsu, when are we coming back and all that. It kills my vibe,” he said.

His negative response to whether he misses the group led to a question of whether he has regrets ever joining.

“I don’t miss TH4Kwages. I didn’t make money from TH4Kwages so why should I miss the group? I wish I didn’t join the group. I needn’t have joined the group. I had the clout already. I just had to join the group and help it to move. What they told me was to join because they couldn’t produce me alone and all. I had already recorded 7 songs as a solo artist,” he noted.

TH4Kwages recorded a number of songs including ‘Nana Esi’.

Fiifi Selah is currently a reggae and dancehall artiste and a presenter with Accra-based Pluzz FM.
