We were 'eating' money in my era - Jay Q

Musician, record producer, record executive, sound engineer, songwriter and keyboardist, Jay Q has made a list of assets he made from hiplife during his heyday.

The founder and current CEO of Q-Lex Entertainment and Jay-Qlex Recording Studio in a chat with KMJ on Hitz FM said he made huge sums of money when he was at his peak.

According to him, he used the money he generated those days to build houses, buy cars and other properties for himself and his artistes.

“We were making so much money. Me personally, I will go to work on a regular day empty pocket and always come home with my boot filled with money.

If people do not know, there was so much money in hiplife. My house I live in, I built it with hiplife.

I just want people to know how good hiplife was. If you see my passport packed, it is hiplife.

I don’t have only one house, everything I have, and it is hiplife that gave it to me.

I was able to even buy car for one of my artistes, Dr. Poh.

We were eating money, we were seeing money. That was the era money was in hiplife”
