Derrick Kwabena Bonney popularly known as DKB has bemoaned the lack of appreciation for local comedy by the citizenry; a situation he says is worrying.

In a phone interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5, the king of comedy disclosed that it’s about time Ghanaians change their way of assessing comedy in Ghana.

DKB stressed the need for Ghanaians to appreciate the effort of comedians in Ghana just as they do for foreign artistes.

“I believe comedy in Ghana is going far but Ghanaians need to show their love and support for what we do because with their love and support, it boost us to work harder.”

When asked if Comedy has an industry like other showbiz, he replied “No, in Ghana we comedians have no industry but with time we will get there. Those who can make the comedy industry exist are the fans and we the comedians, that is why we are asking Ghanaians to accept and cherish their own since it has come to stay.”
