We’re being led by a 'clown' – TV producer fumes

Ricky Anokye Ricky Anokye

President at Documented Africa, Ricky Anokye has observed that the country is being led by clowns.

Mr Anokye who is an astute personality in the creative arts believes comments from Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress that he does not know two of Ghana’s best rappers, Sarkodie and M.anifest is a great indictment on both the government and the arts industry.

Commenting on a Facebook post by Kelly Nii Lartey Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of EoD Partners Inc. on Mr Asiedu Nketia’s remarks, Mr Anokye made statements which suggested that governments and people in the arts have paid little or no attention to the sector.

“It is an indictment on both government and the so called creative industry….how often do the industry appear in state budgets, how have the industry treated this issues, where is creative arts/entertainment/music bill, Does the NMC react to anything apart from politics on our airwaves? Do we have data and any stats and indicators….please let me stop here before i bore…….we are all jokers being led by clowns…..” he noted.

In February, abrantepa.com reported that some showbiz followers were unhappy after President John Mahama delivered 2016 State of the Nation Address without mentioning the arts.

Meanwhile, arts advocate, Kwame Dadzie has called on stakeholders of the creative arts to organize a debate for all presidential aspirants before this year’s general elections.

He has explained that the proposed Presidential Debate on Arts would psychologically inspire the politician to ‘think arts.’
