Jupitar skips VGMA 2016 to play $50,000 concert

Jupitar doesn’t care about what happened at the VGMAs last night. Your trending tweets and social media posts don’t mean anything to him right now. He just got paid US $50,000 from a wedding reception for Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s daughter in Kumasi.

Jupitar who broke the exclusive to BeenieWords.com was super excited.

“I got paid US $50,000 and I am good right now. I was the only artiste who played on the night. So I’m officially the only royal dancehall artiste in Ghana. No Reggae or Dancehall artiste in Ghana has ever done that. So now my ratings taller. KOD was the official MC for the occasion held at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi”, Jupitar brags.

Jupitar was nominated for the VGMA 2016 with his hit song “Fire” in the “Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year” category (but he lost it to Stonebwoy who won it). He was also nominated for the “Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year” category too with Stonebwoy, Episode, Blakk Rasta, and others.

Jupitar lost that one to Stonebwoy too but he (Jupitar) isn’t worried a bit just like he would ask in his new song “Why Worry?” To him, he feels playing for the Great King of Ashanti’s daughter and getting paid such ‘good amount’ was worth the awards he would have received, thus he skipped the VGMAs to go do ‘business’. He is smiling to himself right now with the USD $50,000 added to his ‘music royalties’.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu celebrated his birthday days ago, and his daughter’s wedding also comes as a very vital and memorable occasion just in time.

Jupitar is one of the top-rated Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artistes at the moment, has played major big stages in Ghana with various international acts like Busy Signal, Alkaline, Popcaan, Jah Vinci, among others. Jupitar is one of the young music talents who have raised the genre to an appreciable level in Ghana, on live band. His latest big concert was the VGMA nominees jam in Ho, Volta Region of Ghana where he was rated the best performer on the night.
