Woman trader charged for fraud

Tema, Sept. 25, GNA- A trader who took 16 million cedis from a Kumasi driver to help him obtain admission at the University of Ghana, Legon, was on Thursday remanded into custody by a Tema Magistrate's court.

Ramatu Laarimang pleaded not guilty to fraud and will re-appear on October six.

Police Chief Inspector Margaret Nunoo, told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Ninepence, that in April 2003, Ramatu promised the driver that she would secure admission for his daughter at the Legon University.

Ramatu, therefore, demanded 16 million cedis but failed to secure the admission.

All efforts made by the driver to retrieve his money proved futile, a report was then made to the Regional CID, Tema, and Ramatu was arrested.
