GN Bank Awards recognizes top Ghanaian showbiz personalities (Photos)

The GN Bank Awards Night organized by Spyder Lee Entertainment with support from GN Bank witnessed a massive turnout by Ghana's top showbiz personalities and fans on March 21, 2015 at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).

The awards night began on time with performances from gospel stars, Obaapa Christy and Joyce Blessing, who both rocked the house with their hit songs to begin the show.

Delivering a message from Spyder Lee Entertainment, its director, Mr Edwin Kweku Edinkrah stated that it has been an exciting partnership with GN Bank for the successful execution of the awards scheme.

“For us at Spyder Lee Entertainment, we are very passionate about this initiative which does not only award and celebrate practitioners within the Arts & Entertainment Industry, but also connects the various sectors to develop the Arts Industry”, the Director of Spyder Lee Entertainment said.

Chris Attoh, established Ghanaian actor and MC for the night took charge of affairs as usual with a perfect coordination ensuring consistency in the performances and the presentation of awards.

Live band music dominated all the seven performances which included that of highlife musician Abrantie Amakye Dede, award-winning songstress Efya, emerging 'African lioness' Noella Wiyaala, singer Raquel and the 2014 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Shatta Wale.

The awards scheme had 15 categories across the Arts and Entertainment Industry and nominees were voted for by the public in their respective categories.

Shatta Wale, James Gardiner, Vybrant Faya, Baba Spirit, Bola Ray, Nana Yaa Amoakoaa and Gifty Osei were among the nominees who won awards at the night in the People’s Choice Male Musician, Male Actor, Song of the year, Best Comedian, Male Radio Presenter, People’s Choice Child Star and Female Musician categories respectively.

Other award winning personalities included Juliet Ibrahim, Asamoah Gyan, Halifax Ansah Addo, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, Kojo Frempong and Nana Yaa Brefo for the Female Actor, Male Sports Personality, Entertainment Writer, Female Radio Presenter and male & female TV presenter categories respectively.

The GN Bank also presented special awards to MTN Ghana for their outstanding performance in the country and Bola Ray as the Favourite Celebrity of the year.

Dignitaries present at the awards night included Veteran Ghanaian Actor George Williams, Papa Kwesi Nduom, Nana Adjoa Awindor, and the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie.

GN Bank Awards is an annual awards scheme instituted to celebrate and give recognition to Ghanaian personalities whose daily endeavors have contributed tremendously to the growth of the nation’s entertainment industry.
