Workshop on Ghana’s Creative Economy @ Golden Tulip Hotel

Series of monthly workshops on Ghana’s creative economy that began in August will on Thursday, October 30 continue at Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.

Dubbed ‘Where Is The Medecis – Recognising Wealth in Creative Industries And How Business Can Support Our Creative Economy’, would be addressed by five eminent Ghanaians and a Nigerian.

They are Sam Jonah, Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital; Prof E. Gyimah Boadi, Executive Director; Centre For Democratic Development; Nik Amarteifio, Chairman, Omni Media; Amaechi Ndili, Head of Lagos Office, Emerging Capital Markets and Baba Ahmadu, Businessman / Industrialist.

The creative economy is one of the rapidly growing sectors of the world economy. Indeed, it is highly transformative in terms of income generation, job creation and export earnings. It equally generates non-monetary value that contributes significantly to achieving people-centred, inclusive and sustainable development.

Core areas of the creative economy include film, fashion, performing arts, advertising, architecture, publishing, software development, toys, radio, TV, video games, crafts, literary arts, video games and others.

“Undeniably, creativity on all levels requires patronage in an environment that promotes its support, funding and appreciation. All cultures throughout history have had groups, families and institutions that support the arts while developing a symbiotic relationship beneficial to all,” said Joe Osae Addo, CEO of Constructs LLC and one of the organisers.

“Often, creative people talk and listen to one another, forgetting the key role that patrons must play in developing the creative agenda. This kind of patronage must be encouraged in the private sector by listening to those who are or may not be supporting creativity in the different sectors, be it applied arts, design and architecture,” he added.

Institute for Music and Development and ArchiAfrica, in collaboration with Arterial Network Ghana is organising the workshop with support from Danish Centre for Culture and Development, Doen Foundation, Prince Claus and Golden Tulip Hotel.
