Legendary musician ‘Godfather’ returns with ‘Ritual fusion’

Musician, composer, arranger, singer, and studio engineer THE GODFATHER known from the popular band group ‘The Godfathers’ born in Kumasi, Ghana, returns as a more Pan Africanist musician leading the music genre ‘Ritual Fusion’.

The Godfather, who started playing musical instruments at 16 years old beginning with guitar. Drums and keyboards were self-taught became one of the best keyboard players in Ghana at the time, playing soul, funk, afro-rock, and indigenous African music between 1970 and 1977 explains the music genre ‘Ritual Fusion’ as; ‘I call my music genre Ritual Fusion because it is the blending of indigenous local and ritual music with modern sounds, he mentioned.

He noted his reason for finally settling with this genre of music is because, after playing in many groups including Roadrunners, Los Americanos, Star light band, K Gyasi and his Noble Kings, K Frimpong & his Cubano Fiesta, City 9, Gee Dees, B soyaya Extra O, Vis-à-vis, Drew Chase Delegation and even forming my own band The Godfathers, I have done enough research with facts that the only way Africa music can be exported is by selling our indigenous culture, that is what I bring now.

The legendary THE GODFATHER album ‘The Godfathers’ in the year 1980 for international release was licensed to CBS and distributed worldwide climbing to went to No: 1 in both Kenya & Uganda, and made an impression in Holland and Germany. . The ‘Dadadi’ in the 1984-85 album also went to no:1 in the UK African Chart (then compiled by Sterns Record Shop).

After playing in so many bands and owning one, THE GODFATHER success as an artiste has been based on research, one that will bring out the real African to the rest of the world.
