Maame Arhin takes over as CEO of Viasat1

Maame Arhin has been appointed CEO of the Viasat 1 Ghana with effect from 1 November, 2013. She replaces Charlotte Gustavsson, who returns to Sweden after spending three years as head of the company.

During her tenure as CEO, Charlotte and her team grew the company to 24% viewership share and took a firm grip of the number 2 position among the free-to-air television stations in Ghana, with Viasat1 ranking number 1 in Greater Accra and Western Region.

Charlotte also successfully launched both News and the new breakfast show “This Morning” and brought football back to the screen through Barclay’s Premier League earlier this season.

Charlotte’s successor Maame joined Viasat1 earlier this year as Chief Operating Officer. Maame previously both studied and worked in the US for over decade, holding positions as “Senior Investment Analyst” at Citi Financial in New York, and credit analyst at Wells Fargo Bank.

She returned to Ghana to join Millicom (Tigo) in 2008 and attained the role of Head of their Communication Category prior to joining Viasat 1.

Joseph Hundah, Executive Vice President of MTG’s African broadcasting operations says “Maame has quickly established herself as a key member of the Viasat1 management team since coming on board earlier this year. She has performed at the highest level and proven an inspirational leader of the team as the operations have gone from strength to strength! Maame was therefore the natural choice to lead Viasat1 Ghana – which celebrates its fifth birthday in December this year – into the next exciting phase of the channel’s development.”

Mr. Hundah continues: “On behalf of MTG Africa, I would also like to thank Charlotte for her considerable contribution to the success of Viasat1 during a period of great change and growth. She has been a valued colleague and widely respected manager. We wish her the very best in all that she does in the future”
