Mills Told Me In A Dream To Be A Musician - Okai–Koi

The composer of the 2012 National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign song, Richmond Okai-Koi, said the late President John Atta Mills, in a dream inspired him to become a musician.

“We were speaking face to face, and he told me that I should do music”, Okai-Koi told Times in an interview at the NDC headquarters in Accra.

He said the dream Prof. Mills also told him “NDC is not divided” and God, who gave him the mandate in 2008 would also “help me to bring good things to the nation.”

Okai-Koi expressed grief at the death of the President, but was optimistic that the spirit of the President is would still live on. “John go, John come, but the yolk is still there”, he said.

Okai-Koi described Mills as a “man of vision”, who tried to “reconcile the nation” and who “never followed unlawfulness”.

On July, 24, the day of President Atta Mills’ passing, Okai-Koi premiered the music video for the NDC campaign song to representatives of the NDC.

Because of Mills passing, the campaign song entitled “Onyame beye” is not going to be released in its original version.

Okai-Koi however promised that “it is going to be remixed for the next President”, but that he is going to keep the original version “for history”.
