Accra Nightlife Awards Launched

The first annual “Accra Nightlife Awards” (ANA) has officially been unveiled in the capital city during a media launch at the Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre on Friday, July 27.

According to the organizers EDGE 53 [a subsidiary of EDGE Media Group], the event will honour personalities, events and places that have promoted nightlife through entertainment in the capital city at an awards night in December this year with the actual date and venue to be announced soon.

The full list of the twenty three (23) category awards ceremony has been launched and the nominee list is also yet to be released.

The categories for the event include: Best Lounge, Best International Restaurant, Best Hotel Bar, Best Casino, Best Local Gem, Best Bar, Best Late Night Snacks, Best Live Venue, Best Ambiance, Best Night Club, and Best Annual Event.

Other categories include Best Weekly Event, Best DJ, Best Sports Bar, Best Nightlife Photographer, Best Doorman, Best Club MC, Best MC, Best Traditional African Restaurant, Best Concert Promoters, Best Club Promoters and Best Contribution to Nightlife Production.

Over 500 active patrons of ANA are to nominate five (5) people in each of the category after which it will be announced to the public where voting will be 50% industry [made up of both local and international professionals] and 50% public weighting through SMS ballot.
