Wutah Dropped As Glo Ambassadors

Nigeria’s telecommunication giant Globacom has started reviewing its ambassadorial contract with Ghanaian stars it signed on years ago. The review process started in earnest in Nigeria a couple of months ago with reports that top stars Jim Iyke and Kate Henshaw had been dropped.

Sources say Ghanaian music duo Wutah is facing the same fate. The duo has been dropped from the deal and the reason, News-One gathered, was as a result of the fact that the two split not long after they were signed as Glo ambassadors.

Interestingly, the news about their being dropped has come at a time when media reports seem to suggest that the two are planning a comeback.

The one time award-winning hip life group reportedly thrilled fans at KOD’s celebration of “15 Years in Showbiz” at Rockstone’s Office and dropped the hint of the comeback. Curious minds are currently wondering if their rumoured comeback was not just to get GLO’s attention to re-sign them.

Meanwhile, News-One could not confirm the other stars that were dropped from the deal.

Some of the GLO Ambassadors in Ghana include Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, Tinny, Asem, Becca, Kwabena Kwabena, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Ayigbe Edem and Van Vicker. Most of the stars were signed on for a year while a few were signed on for two years.

The Glo deal stirred a number of controversies in Ghana’s entertainment industry, and while it managed to keep some busy artistes off the stage at shows organized by competitor networks, there were also issues about payment.

Amakye Dede was also reportedly sidelined in the first phase of the branding of all the 17 Ghanaian celebrities who were endorsed by GLO. After the deal was signed, several giant billboards were mounted in town with huge pictures of stars introducing the new brand. But the ‘Iron Boy’ singer was conspicuously missing.

News-One is following latest trends about the GLO deal.
