Memories from the Old School days; Future Stars thrill audience.

THEY are truly gifted and the future stars we can boast of should their exciting showing last week at the National Theater be anything to go by. Last Friday night witnessed the Old School night of the exciting Stars of the Future season five music talent hunt competition. It was another performance night which saw the remaining nine contestants bringing back memories of award winning and globally acknowledged performers, from the likes of Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Al-Green to Michael Jackson. Dubbed the Old school night, the contestants performed several classics, most of which were released in the 60s, 70s to 80s. The contestants didn’t fail to get the attendees on their feet all night and got them going with them throughout their performance. The night started on a high note with Reynolds performing a song titled ‘Fresh’, originally by the American disco group Kool & Gang. He brought his character to the song for a rather unique version only experienced on the night. Dave followed with his rendition of Lionel Richie’s ‘All night long’. His outfit was just perfect for his performance. He gave a good account of himself with a fantastic performance. Noella vindicated her inclusion in the competition beyond reasonable doubts. She revealed the power behind her performances- her voice. That has worked the magic for her in the competition. On the night, she performed ‘Like a prayer’ a classic from the dynamic Madona. Another spectacle on the night was Henry who performed ‘The way you make me feel’. He got the ladies cheering him even before he started singing. That could have aided in his inspiring delivery of Michael Jackson’s song. Emmanuel could pass for the best performer on the night, doing justice to ‘Ain’t no sunshine’ originally performed by Al-Green. His stage antics and delivery were just awesome as he blended perfectly with his adorable voice. Kwame appeared to have gained his shine back with a breathtaking performance of a Stevie Wonder song ‘Isn’t she lovely’. He knows how to work the crowd and that was simply what he did just like Kaki who sung ‘Respect’ by Aretha Franklin. Daniella managed to ride the band as revealed by Judge Kiki Benson on the night with her performance of ‘Who’s loving you’ by the Jackson 5. Another budding talent, Abby, ended the night with her impressive performance of ‘I will survive’ by Aretha Frankling much to the delight of the attendees on the night. the performance series continues Thursday and atrons are encouraged to come out in their numbers to support their favorite contestants and also vote to keep their favorites in the competition by texting their names to the MTN short code 1750. Stars of the future season five is sponsored by MTN with support from Somovision LG, Close Up, Vodka Kick, Koala, Spa 216, GTP and shows on Television Sunday at 1:30PM on GTV and 3PM on e.TV. There is a repeat show at Mondays, 12.30PM on GTV. The weekly eviction shows will air Tuesdays at 9PM on e.TV and 9:30PM on GTV.
