Popular Nigerian streamer Geh Geh has criticised his fellow content creator Carter Efe over his remarks about Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, saying the comments were made solely to chase clout and that his subsequent apology lacked sincerity.
In a video circulating online, Geh Geh said Carter Efe’s claim that he should be compared to Stonebwoy instead of Shatta Wale was disrespectful and showed a lack of understanding of Ghana’s music industry.
“You still go Ghana, they ask you simple question between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, you say why them go compare you to Shatta Wale, say they suppose compare you to Stonebwoy. You’re making Stonebwoy look lesser,” he said.
Drawing comparisons with Nigeria’s biggest music rivalry, Geh Geh explained that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy occupy equal status in Ghana, just as Wizkid and Davido do in Nigeria.
“I stay Ghana for years. Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy be like Wizkid and Davido for Nigeria. Shatta Wale no dey bigger than Stonebwoy and Stonebwoy no bigger than Shatta Wale. You no fit mention Shatta Wale without mentioning Stonebwoy,” he stated.
Geh Geh also criticised the apology Carter Efe issued after Nigerian superstar Davido urged him to apologise to Stonebwoy, arguing that the message appeared forced rather than heartfelt.
“But you come say, ‘Davido said, my helper said I should apologise to you.’ That means the apology no sincerely come from your heart. If you wan apologise, just say you’re sorry for everything you said. No dey do things like that,” he added.
He further accused Carter Efe of intentionally belittling Stonebwoy in an attempt to generate online attention.
“You come reach there, they ask you simple question, you say why them go compare you to Shatta Wale wey be god, say they suppose compare you to Stonebwoy. That’s insult because you want to trend,” Geh Geh said.
The criticism comes after Carter Efe sparked backlash during a livestream hosted by Ghanaian streamer Made in Ghana, where he said he should be compared to Stonebwoy rather than Shatta Wale because the latter was “bigger.” He also referred to Stonebwoy as a “cripple” and claimed Made in Ghana had made similar remarks.
Following widespread condemnation from Ghanaians and music lovers, Davido publicly advised Carter Efe to apologise to Stonebwoy. Carter Efe later issued an apology, but many social media users argued it lacked genuine remorse because he suggested he was apologising at Davido’s request rather than taking personal responsibility.
