The Rights Accountability Network Africa (RANA) has appointed media personality and public relations professional Matilda Mensah Marfo, known professionally as Tilly Akua Nipaa, as its Communications Director.
A press release dated November 1, 2026, said the appointment is part of the organisation’s commitment to strengthening its institutional communications, expanding public engagement and making human rights advocacy more accessible to citizens in Ghana and across Africa.
In her new role, she will oversee RANA’s communications strategy, media relations, digital engagement and public awareness initiatives.
The organisation said she will particularly focus on translating its research, legal interventions and advocacy activities into information that promotes public awareness, civic participation and institutional accountability.
RANA described her as an accomplished media personality and strategic public relations professional with considerable experience in broadcasting, corporate communications, media relations, brand storytelling and stakeholder engagement.
She has worked as a broadcaster and panellist on platforms under Despite Media and the Multimedia Group, and currently serves as Head of Public Relations and Marketing at Crux Global.
Her achievements include leading the 2025 Artist of the Year campaign for King Promise at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, as well as contributing to projects connected to the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Tilly holds a degree in Psychology, English and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana, and is preparing to graduate with a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Marketing.
She also serves as the 2026 General Secretary of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (GRASAG-UNIMAC).
RANA said it considers effective public communication essential to human rights protection, adding that beyond documenting violations and demanding accountability, it wants citizens to understand their rights, recognise threats to them and seek appropriate remedies.
The organisation said it is confident her ‘experience, creativity and strategic expertise’ will significantly strengthen its ability to advance these goals, and welcomed her to its leadership team.
