The audience at the just-ended Sacred Crown Awards was left stunned after the founder and leader of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry, Emmanuel Akwasi Boakye, popularly known as Prophet Ogyaba, was named the recipient of the “Seer of the Year” award.

In a video shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on November 2, 2026, Prophet Ogyaba, who has been in the news for the past few weeks, was seen dressed in an all-white outfit as he mounted the stage to receive the award.

In the video, the audience could not help but express shock after the pastor’s name was mentioned as the recipient of the award.

Meanwhile, it appears that those in the auditorium were not the only ones surprised by the development, as several Ghanaians have taken to social media to express concerns, particularly about the awards scheme itself.

While some have questioned the criteria used in selecting winners for a ceremony centered on spirituality, others have raised concerns about the relevance and significance of such an awards event.

One social media user, identified as Darko Emmanuel, remarked that it was unfortunate that the work of God had now been reduced to an awards scheme.

According to him, God is the only one who can award what he described as “spiritual gifts”, rather than such awards.

“It is really shameful that the work of God has been degraded to this point. It is only God who has to award these spiritual gifts if they so have it,” he said.
