Firdaus Iddrisu, popularly known as Shatta Bandle, has stated categorically that he is neither affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nor the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

His comments follow rumours that he belongs to the NDC after a video of him defending former Karaga MP Alhassan Sualihu Dandaawa went viral on social media.

Shatta Bandle said Dandaawa is his brother and that he could not betray a family member for a stranger.

“Dandaawa and I come from the same family, and we still share a room in Karaga. If you have a brother who wants to become an MP and you don’t support him, but instead support his opponent, do you think his opponent will trust you?” he asked.

He said the former MP had consistently supported his father and family.

“Because of my father’s condition, he couldn’t do very demanding physical work. Dandaawa supported him to ensure he could take good care of us. If someone helps you in life, would you leave that person and support his opponent?” he said.

Shatta Bandle added that Dandaawa had done a lot for the people of Karaga.

“My brother has done a lot for Karaga, including providing lights, water and bridges, among other things. But, as you know, politicians cannot do everything,” he said.

Shatta Bandle also revealed that about 70 percent of senior NPP figures are his friends.

“In the NPP, I have senior figures such as Alhaji Farouk and Tolon MP Habib, who are all close friends. I can tell you that over 70 per cent of senior NPP figures are my friends. Because I was fighting for my brother, that is why they chose a side against me,” he said.
