A past conversation between late actor and broadcaster Kwame Dzokoto and Prophet Kumchacha has resurfaced online, with many users reflecting on his warning about the dangers of spreading false death rumours.
The interview, which has gone viral, captured Kumchacha reminding Dzokoto of an incident in which rumours circulated online that he had died after photos of him with a swollen stomach surfaced on social media.
Responding to the issue, Dzokoto dismissed the reports.
Although he said he was emotionally strong enough to withstand such rumours, the actor noted that false reports of a person’s death could have devastating effects on family members and loved ones.

“I have the strength to withstand such rumours, but they need to also know that I have a family and friends who are going to be worried when they hear such news. They might even go into shock if they are not strong enough to stand it, so the new generation of journalists, especially the bloggers, when they hear something about someone, they need to try and find out from the person so it can be balanced,” he said.
Kumchacha also admitted that he had initially been unsettled by the rumours, revealing that he tried calling Dzokoto’s phone without success, leaving him unsure of what to believe.
“But we thank God you are here. May God grant you long life,” Kumchacha said after seeing Dzokoto in person during the interview.
The clip has since taken on a heartbreaking significance, with many social media users sharing it to highlight Dzokoto’s appeal for responsible journalism and the need to verify information before publishing, especially when it concerns a person’s life.

Kwame Dzokoto said he had the strength to withstand such rumours but expressed concern that his family and loved ones might not be able to cope with the emotional impact. He advised bloggers to verify information before publishing it.
Prophet Kumchacha subsequently prayed for him and wished him a long life from God.
