Ghanaian musician Kelvin Boy has stated that he does not consider himself an A-list artiste if the category includes industry giants such as Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Shatta Wale.
Speaking during an interview with entertainment blogger Zionfelix, the “Down Flat” hitmaker said he believes the three artistes have earned their place at the top due to their longevity and continued relevance in the Ghanaian music industry.
“If there is an A-list and it’s the Sarkodie’s and the Shatta Wale’s and the Stonebwoy’s, I cannot be there right now if they are still here and still doing it. Keep me on the B-list, or whatever,” Kelvin Boy said.
He explained that artiste classifications can also vary depending on individual preferences, noting that fans often have their own personal definitions of who qualifies as an A-list artiste.

According to him, an artiste who may not be considered A-list by the masses could still hold that position in the heart of a particular fan because the artiste influenced them.
“Someone’s favourite artiste is Fameye; in his heart, that is his A-list artiste. Someone’s favourite is Kofi Kinaata no matter what,” he added.
Kelvin Boy further stressed that being placed in a lower category does not determine an artiste’s success, urging musicians to focus on their craft, financial growth, and legacy.
“They were here before us and should be A-listers, but that one no dey justify anything; you have to do your thing, make your own money, and leave,” he said.
“when the likes of shatta wale, sarkodie, stonebwoy and samini are in one category, i don’t think i deserve to be there. those people worked hard to be there” — kelvynboy
