Relationship counsellor George Lutterodt has revealed that a lack of appreciation for his efforts and investments in his marriage could be the reason for a possible divorce.

Speaking in a recent interview on Onua FM, he stated that appreciation from a wife plays a significant role in motivating a husband to continue investing in the marriage.

According to him, a man who puts in effort and resources to make his marriage work deserves to have those efforts acknowledged and appreciated by his partner.

“I’m saying on record, and you can quote me everywhere. If anybody hears that I’ve divorced my senior wife or I’ve divorced again for the second time, the first thing that will cause me to divorce my wife is an act of not appreciating my efforts,” he said.

Counselor Lutterodt further explained that appreciation is an important factor in sustaining a marriage, stressing that husbands need to feel valued for the sacrifices and investments they make in their relationships.

He noted that when a man consistently puts in effort without feeling appreciated, it could affect his willingness to continue making such sacrifices for the marriage.

“What keeps a man going is not appreciation, but what keeps a husband going is a form of appreciation for the effort and investment that they’re doing,” he shared.

Counselor Lutterodt also spoke about the emotional impact of loss, stating that anyone going through such an experience needs time to grieve.

“This man is going through a stage that he will need to go through counselling because every loss must be grieved,” he added.
