Acclaimed Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro has shared her first reaction after receiving the script for Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s much-anticipated movie, Agency for the Dead.

In an interview with GhanaWeb during a special screening of the movie on October 20, 2026, at Silverbird Cinemas, Yvonne Okoro disclosed that she was initially hesitant when Shirley sent her the script.

According to Yvonne, she was in school and preparing for examinations at the time Shirley Frimpong-Manso sent her the script. She added that she initially wanted to turn down the role, but the filmmaker insisted that she read the script first.

Yvonne Okoro explained that after reading the script, she fell in love with the role and decided to be part of the project.

“Shirley is crazy, and that’s for sure. She likes to do things that are out-of-the-box type of movies, and I love that about her. First, I said no because she is always bullying me.

“So I was like, I had school, exams, and she was like, ‘Read the script and get back to me.’ And you can’t say no to Shirley… So as soon as I read the script, I was like, ‘Shirley, I am in,’” she said.

Yvonne Okoro further disclosed that she enjoyed working with her fellow cast members on the movie.

According to her, the cast made her feel comfortable on set without being subjected to criticism, adding that such an atmosphere is what she looks for when working on a film.

“For Joselyn, I have worked with her a couple of times. For George Quaye, that was my first time, and I love a set where we can laugh with each other, and we can still work together, and nobody will look at you in a certain type of way,” she added.

Meanwhile, Shirley Frimpong-Manso is set to premiere her much-anticipated film, Agency for the Dead, on October 30, 2026, at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra.

The movie features celebrated Ghanaian actresses Jocelyn Dumas and Yvonne Okoro, as well as George Quaye and David Dontoh, among others.
