Shri Surinder Bhagat, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, has announced the maiden India Fest 2026, a flagship cultural event aimed at showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and strengthening the longstanding ties between Ghana and India.
The festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium, under the theme “A Celebration of Indian Culture.”
According to the High Commission, the event will celebrate India’s diverse cultural heritage, artistic and culinary traditions, as well as contemporary achievements, while providing a platform for cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement between the two countries.
India Fest 2026 will showcase different facets of Indian culture, including its music, dance, art, cuisine, festivals, languages and traditions, offering Ghanaians an opportunity to experience the country’s cultural diversity.
The High Commission said the festival forms part of efforts to promote mutual understanding and deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and India.
It noted that the two countries share a longstanding partnership founded on mutual respect, solidarity and a common commitment to development, with people-to-people contacts, educational exchanges and cultural interactions contributing significantly to the relationship.
The event will also highlight the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening Ghana-India relations.
As a flagship initiative of the High Commission, the festival is expected to bring together members of the Indian diplomatic community, Ghanaian friends of India, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural organisations and the general public.
The High Commission said the event would particularly provide an opportunity for the younger generation to discover India’s cultural traditions and appreciate the shared values connecting the peoples of India and Ghana.
Beyond showcasing traditional culture, the festival is expected to serve as a platform for celebrating diversity, creativity and friendship between the two countries.
The High Commission has invited the media, members of the Indian community in Ghana and the Ghanaian public to participate in the celebration of India’s cultural heritage and what it described as the enduring friendship between India and Ghana.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued in Accra on October 14, 2026.
