The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has taken a swipe at women who are seen constantly going after already established men.
In a video shared on social media on October 12, 2026, Pastor Mensa Otabil questioned why some women insist on marrying rich men instead of striving to become wealthy themselves.
“As for me, I want to marry a rich man; then you are, by inference, saying I cannot be rich by myself. Why do you want to marry a rich man? What do you want?

“If the man doesn't have money, I don't have time for him. But you have time for yourself. You have time for your broke self,” he said.
Pastor Mensa Otabil additionally expressed his thoughts on how some African movies portray the narrative that women should solely depend on rich men for their survival.
According to the renowned cleric, he finds such a mindset irritating, adding that women can equally rise above their limitations and become wealthy.

“I said, what kind of nonsense is that? What kind of nonsense is that? Are you trying to tell me that without a benevolent man, a woman cannot be successful?
“That is African nonsense. Please don't buy into that. By your God, you can rise above limitations. You can succeed by yourself. You can buy your iPhone 15 by yourself. Then you can look for a broke man and marry him,” he added.
