'Edem stood me up twice and never showed up for my video shoot' – Kojo Cue

Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue has recounted how his colleague, Edem, failed to show up twice for a music video shoot for a song they had worked on, eventually leading him to remove Edem’s verse from the song.

Speaking to media personality MC Portfolio, Kojo Cue explained that the hit song ‘Wole’ was initially a collaboration with Edem, who had recorded a verse for the song before they planned to shoot its music video.

However, according to the rapper, Edem’s inability to attend the scheduled video shoots forced him to reconsider the collaboration.

“Edem’s verse was initially on ‘Wole’. Shaker was not even on the song. I arranged a video shoot, but on the scheduled date, Edem couldn’t make it. He apologised and asked for the date to be rescheduled, so we agreed to shoot only his part on another day and communicated the new date to him,” he said.

Kojo Cue explained that after Edem failed to attend the first shoot, they agreed to arrange another date specifically for him to record his part of the video.

He said the new date was communicated to Edem to ensure that they could complete the shoot.

However, the rapper said Edem failed to show up again on the rescheduled date, despite the preparations made for his appearance.

According to Kojo Cue, Edem called to inform him that his spiritual father had asked him to attend to something, making it impossible for him to participate in the video shoot as planned.

“However, when the rescheduled date arrived, he told me that his spiritual father had called him to attend to something, so he wouldn’t be able to make it for the video shoot,” he said.

Kojo Cue said Edem’s second absence led him to remove the rapper’s verse from the song and find another way to complete the project.

He noted that Shaker stepped in at that point, recorded a verse for the song, and joined him in shooting the music video.

“That was why I took out his verse. Shaker immediately recorded a verse for me, and we went ahead to shoot his part of the video,” he stated.

Despite the situation, Kojo Cue said he did not take Edem’s actions too personally. He noted that the incident happened a long time ago and that he could no longer remember whether Edem contacted him after the shoot to explain further or discuss what had happened.

“It’s been a long time, so I don’t recall whether Edem called me after the shoot or not. But personally, I don’t take things like that to heart,” he added.
