Several Ghanaian celebrities have reacted to the alleged physical assault of Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo by her husband, Harold Duodu Norman, following the circulation of videos of the incident online.
Musicians, actors, media personalities and fashion figures have expressed concern over the incident, with several others offering words of support to Nana Akua Addo while condemning violence in relationships.
Media personality Mona Gucci shared an emotional message of solidarity with the fashion icon, saying her heart aches knowing that Nana Akua Addo is going through a difficult period, particularly with details of the alleged incident becoming public.
She urged Nana Akua Addo not to feel ashamed about what had happened and reminded her that she deserved to be treated with love, dignity and respect.
“My heart aches knowing you are hurting...especially with something...so painful becoming public. I wish I could take away the weight of it all...Please remember this...you have nothing to be ashamed of. You deserve love that is gentle... respectfulness..and safe. Nothing you have achieved...and nothing you may be struggling with...makes you any less deserving of that love!!!
You don't..have to put on a brave face for me...u can cry...be angry…..sit in silence...or tell me the same thing a..hundred times,” she wrote.
Seasoned media personality Oheneyere Gifty Anti also weighed in, cautioning the public against questioning why Nana Akua Addo may have remained in an allegedly abusive relationship.
She argued that, instead of asking why victims remain in such relationships, the immediate concern should be the safety and wellbeing of those involved, particularly the children.
“This is not the time to ask ‘why did she stay?’, ‘why do women stay in abusive relationships’ etc.
We have talked about this for years and what we got and continue to get are insults, accusations and falsehoods. Now it has happened. What we have to be worried about are:

“How is she doing now? Is she safe? How are her children fairing? Especially the one who was being beaten mercilessly in the video. And when he dragged her out of shot, where did he take her? What did he do to her? Has the perpetrator been arrested?” she wrote.
Musician Sista Afia also expressed her sympathy for Nana Akua Addo, saying she could relate to the emotional pain associated with such an experience.
“I genuinely admire you, and seeing what you’re going through touched me deeply. I understand that kind of pain because I’ve been there too, and I know the emotional weight that comes with it. I pray God gives you the strength and courage to rediscover yourself. You deserve peace, love, and so much more. Please know that someone out here is quietly rooting for you,” Sista Afia wrote.
Fashion personality Osebo the Zaaraman also condemned the alleged assault, stressing the seriousness with which he would have treated the situation if Nana Akua Addo were his biological sister.
He said that if she were his blood sister, either he or Nana Akua Addo’s husband would have ended up in prison by now.
Musician Reggie Zippy, however, struck a more conciliatory tone in his reaction, acknowledging the complexity of marital issues while expressing hope that the couple could resolve their differences.
“Matters of the heart are too hard to explain or understand. Wishing you both the very best for the future, Mrs. Nana Akua Addo, and, Mr. Harold Norman. Marriage has never been easy, but It's never too late to resolve your differences and Co-parent amicably if hearts and minds can't align,” he wrote.
Other personalities, including Sammy Baah Flex and Nadia Buari, have also reacted to the development, joining the growing number of public figures expressing concern over the alleged incident.
The reactions come amid the circulation of multiple videos involving Nana Akua Addo and members of her husband’s family.
Some of the videos capture what appears to be a heated confrontation involving the fashion icon and members of the family, while other clips purport to show her being physically assaulted by her husband.

The same mouth that speaks tender words is the same mouth that cuts you down. The same hands that hold you are the same hands that hurt you. The same person who promises to protect you is the same person you need protection from.
