Netizens have criticised Ghanaian musician and owner of Box Bar, Itz Tiffany, after she expressed frustration and disappointment with the actions of security personnel during the demolition of her three-storey beach bar at Laboma Beach.

The demolition took place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, as part of efforts by the government and relevant authorities to tackle flooding and reclaim waterways and their buffer zones in parts of the Greater Accra Region.

In an interview on Hitz FM on September 17, 2026, Itz Tiffany explained that she was not allowed to pack her belongings from the facility before the building was demolished.

According to the musician, when she learned the demolition was underway, she and her workers pleaded with the security personnel on site for time to retrieve their belongings.

She said, however, that their request was refused despite having several items, including drinks and other business equipment, still at the premises.

Itz Tiffany further explained that she had about seven trucks available to transport the items that had not been destroyed at the time of the demolition.

Following her comments, several social media users criticised the musician, arguing that business owners whose properties had been marked for demolition were given sufficient notice to vacate the area.

Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh, Public Relations Officer for rapper Medikal, said on X that all businesses marked for demolition were given a 21-day notice to vacate the area, which he argued was enough time for Tiffany to remove her belongings.

He added that if Tiffany believes she was not given such a notice, she could pursue the matter through the legal route and seek compensation.

“They were given 21-day notice that has even elapsed. Unless her business wasn’t part of those who were notified, she can’t blame anyone. If it wasn’t, she should take the legal route for compensation,” he wrote.

Ghanaian MC David Quaye also questioned whether Tiffany expected the authorities to allow her into the premises to pack her belongings after the 21-day notice had elapsed.

“They should let you in to pack when you’ve had weeks to pack but thought you were above the law, so nothing will happen?” he commented.

Another social media user questioned why Tiffany did not use the 21-day notice period to remove her belongings and instead expected to be given additional time on the day of the demolition.

“21 days notice you nor pack out.. e be the 12 hours u go take pack out,” the user wrote.

Another user also argued that the public had witnessed reports and discussions about the 21-day notice issued to businesses operating in the affected areas.

“We all saw and heard with our own eyes and ears how they were given 21 days to vacate the premises for demolition. In fact, after the 21 days, people went to the place to do videos to mock the G.A Regional Minister. Now look at them on radio,” the user indicated.

Meanwhile, the Post-Flood Mitigation Taskforce has demolished several structures at Laboma Beach, including the popular Pink Flamingo Lounge in the La Dade Kotopon Municipality.

The exercise formed part of the government’s efforts to reclaim the protected buffer zone of the Kpeshie Lagoon and restore natural drainage channels as part of measures to address flooding in the Greater Accra Region.

The demolition followed an August 7 directive for the removal of structures allegedly encroaching on waterways and their buffer zones.
