Ghanaian actor Abraham Kofi Davis, popularly known as Salinko, has announced that he is withdrawing his pledge to support veteran actors and musicians with GH¢1,000 every month following recent public scrutiny over his generosity and the source of his wealth.

In a video shared online, the actor said he had taken advice from family, friends, and media personalities to put an end to his public acts of generosity, including the monthly initiative he had recently announced.

“I wanted to start an initiative of helping veterans with GH¢1,000 every month. I am stopping it, along with any public generosity, due to stories circulating about me and my money,” he said.

Salinko thanked the management of Hello FM, actor Kwaku Manu, and the media for their concern, explaining that although helping others has always been part of his nature, he has decided to prioritise his family.

“I have always been a generous person. Anyone who knows me knows I can give out everything I have even when I still need it. This is not new, but I have received a lot of advice, and I have decided to take it,” he stated.

The actor added that he already supports several family members and also helps people with genuine ambitions whenever he can.

“Whatever I make now will be for my family and me. I already sponsor my family, and if you ask them, they will tell you I support everyone who has a vision. Even strangers, if they have a vision, I help them. That is who I am, but if I am being advised today, I will respectfully take it. No one should call me again, but all the same, thank you,” he concluded.

The announcement comes days after comments made by a man identified as DBlex during an interview on Hello FM sparked widespread debate on social media.

In the interview, DBlex questioned the source of Salinko’s wealth, arguing that the public has the right to demand accountability if someone suddenly appears to be living an extravagant lifestyle without a known source of income.

He also referenced videos of the actor gifting cars and, in another circulating clip, made remarks involving the death of Salinko’s father while questioning the legitimacy of the actor’s finances.

The comments drew criticism online and prompted actor Kweku Manu to publicly defend his longtime colleague.
