Nigerian singer Mr Eazi has revealed that his late mother never got the chance to watch him perform live, explaining that she lived a very conservative lifestyle and was not fond of travelling.

Speaking in an interview with Brut, the Afrobeats star said although his music career took him across the world, his mother never attended any of his performances.

“My mom never watched me perform unfortunately. She was very conservative in life in general. She didn’t like travelling, even to go from Lagos to Accra, and the more my career was growing further, the more I was travelling to shows,” he said.

Mr Eazi also disclosed that his father only saw him perform once, years after he had already become an established artiste.

“I think my dad saw me performing in 2017 or 2018, and that was even a while after. I think my dad has only seen me perform once,” he added.

Despite not witnessing his performances, the singer said both parents always supported his career in their own way through prayers, advice and concern for his wellbeing.

“The support has always been there in terms of prayers. My mum would call me and be like, ‘I saw this news, is it true? You need to be careful,’ or my dad calling me to say, ‘Oh, I heard your new song. Why don’t you add this…” he said.

Mr Eazi recently opened up about the impact his late mother’s illness and passing had on him, revealing that the experience inspired his first investment in a pharmaceutical company listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
