Ghanaian actor Abraham Kofi Davis, popularly known as Salinko, has announced plans to provide monthly financial support to between 300 and 500 veteran actors and musicians aged 60 and above as part of an initiative to improve their welfare.

Speaking in a video circulating on social media, Salinko said he intends to give each beneficiary a monthly allowance of GH¢1,000 to help cater for their medications and other basic necessities.

According to the actor, although he has often considered stopping his acts of kindness, he finds it difficult because helping others brings him joy.

“Sometimes I want to close the door to being so kind, but my director usually tells me I can’t. I really want to, but I just can’t because I enjoy helping people,” he said.

Salinko disclosed that from next year, he plans to channel most of his support towards veteran actors and musicians above the age of 60.

“I pray to God to continue blessing me and the work I do. I want to be giving a monthly allowance of GH¢1,000 to veterans above 60 years who are still in the industry. I am looking at about 300 to 500 veterans who we will be taking care of, including their medications and other necessities,” he added.

His announcement has since attracted attention on social media, with many praising the actor for seeking to support industry veterans who continue to contribute to Ghana’s creative arts sector.
