Ghanaian musician Twitch has disclosed that he has never received royalties from his music in Ghana.

Speaking during a live stream with Made in Ghana, the artiste dismissed claims that he had earned as much as $10,000 from Ghana’s music royalty system.

When asked if reports that he had received $10,000 in royalties were true, Twitch responded, “Really? Make he show me where e dey.”

The interviewer then asked what the biggest amount he had ever received from Ghana music royalties was.

“I never see any money from them oh, maybe I no even find out say money dey there or money no dey there,” he replied in English and Pidgin.

When further asked about the highest amount he had earned from his music generally, Twitch said he could not recall a specific figure, explaining that his income comes in bits rather than as a lump sum.

“I no go remember, e bi something wey dey come in bits,” he said.

His comments add to the long-running concerns among Ghanaian musicians over the collection and distribution of music royalties, an issue that has sparked debate within the country’s music industry for years.
