Ghanaian rapper and hip-hop artiste, Frank Nana Afrane also known as Okese 1, has opened up about his favourite gospel musician in Ghana.

In an interview on YFM, the “Don’t Come Too Close” hitmaker disclosed that Brother Sammy is his favourite gospel musician, adding that he particularly loves his song “Mebo Wodin.”

“I love brother Sammy a lot. I like the song ‘Mebo Wodin’ and he is also a very good friend of mine,” he noted.

Sharing details about his upbringing, Okese 1 recalled his time at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS), where he said he felt like a “superstar.”

According to him, he was the best-performing Business student at KASS and was not involved in entertainment at the time, as he was solely focused on his academics.

“It was great, I felt like a superstar over there. I was actually the best Business student in KASS,” he said.

The rapper further noted that his interest in music developed during his tertiary education at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), where he began taking music seriously and started his journey on his own without any boys’ clique.

Okese 1 also explained that he does not limit himself to one particular genre of music, stressing that he is capable of experimenting with different sounds. He mentioned American rapper Young Thug as his favourite rapper.

“I can do any type of music. As long as you give me the beat, and I like it I will do something with it. I can do everything, even gospel,” he noted.
