Ghanaian musician Fameye has opened up about some of the darkest moments of his life, revealing that the absence of his parents has been one of the things that continues to affect him deeply.

According to the musician, he has had to navigate some of the most difficult periods of his life largely on his own, without the support of parents who could intervene or guide him through challenging situations.

Speaking with Kobby Kyei, Fameye recalled a particularly difficult period when he had issues with someone in the industry and faced claims that he had been cursed and had been taken to places against his will.

He said while other people have parents who step in to defend or support them publicly during difficult situations, he has never experienced that kind of intervention from his own family.

“We see parents fighting for their children online all the time. Some people think it’s not good, but some of us also want that. I wish when an issue about me comes up, a parent would come online and talk for me,” he said.

Fameye said he has always had to deal with his struggles behind the scenes, even when they left him emotionally overwhelmed.

“Have you ever seen any family members of mine do that before? No one. I always have to hustle and do everything by myself behind the scenes and I cry,” he added.

The “Nothing I Get” hitmaker also recalled the birth of his first child as another particularly painful period, stating that he had no parents around to help care for the baby.

He explained that he and his partner had to handle everything themselves, without the support of either his mother or father.

“Another darkest time was when my first child was born. Where was my mum? Where was my dad who would also come and take care of my baby? I was doing it myself. I did everything with my woman, just us two,” Fameye said.

Beyond emotional support, the musician said he sometimes wishes he had parents he could also provide for financially.

He explained that even when he earns huge amounts from performing at shows, he finds himself wishing a parent could call and ask him for money so he could have the opportunity to give back.

“Even now I can go for shows and make so much money, and I will only wish there’s a parent who calls me and says, ‘My son, I need money,’ so I can just send some to her,” he said.

Fameye admitted that these experiences continue to bother him, although he feels there is little he can do to change his circumstances.

“All these things bother me, but I can’t do anything about them,” he said.
