Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has advised single youth to remain open-minded about where they might meet future partners, stressing that love can be found in unexpected places, including social media direct messages, weddings, and even funerals.

Speaking in a recent interview, Stonebwoy said people should not limit their search for a partner to conventional places such as churches or workplaces, arguing that meaningful relationships can develop from everyday encounters.

He recalled how people who previously did not know each other could easily bond during funerals, weddings, and other gatherings.

“People took numbers at funerals, and they linked up, and people took numbers at weddings. Everywhere is possible; in your DMs is possible. Don’t write that off. You don’t know where your husband can be,” he said

Stonebwoy, who has been married to his wife, Dr Louisa Ansong, for nine years, explained that social interactions in different settings can create opportunities for people to connect.

The “Manodzi” hitmaker even used an experience on a flight to illustrate his point, recalling how turbulence caused passengers who had initially kept to themselves to suddenly interact.

“I was on a flight. The turbulence was turbulencing, everybody was nice instantly, but before the flight everyone was forming. Something brings people together,” he recounted

According to Stonebwoy, people should therefore avoid being overly selective about the places where they expect to meet their future partners.

“Don’t be singling out the events where you think it’s supposed to be that you find your man or you find your woman,” he advised.

He added that people who are single should approach social interactions with an open mind because a potential partner could emerge from virtually any situation.

“Some people have streamlined it to, if it doesn’t meet me in a church or at the bank, I don’t like it,” he said. “But your husband came to the funeral and you frown on him.”

Stonebwoy also spoke about his own marriage, revealing that he and Dr Louisa have been together for about 12 years and have two children. He said next year will mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

Reflecting on what has sustained their relationship, the musician described his wife as his best friend and stressed the importance of friendship in a relationship.

“You need to actually make a best friend for you,” Stonebwoy said, explaining that a strong connection should go beyond physical attraction and include emotional and spiritual compatibility.

Meanwhile, when asked whether single women could find their husbands at the Bhim Festival, Stonebwoy jokingly reassured them that there would be “fine Ghanaian boys” around.
