Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has expressed support for Nigerian musician Mr P amid his ongoing family dispute, stating that he believes the singer’s account of challenges he has been facing.
Speaking on the Fresh Off The Boat Podcast, aired on August 10, 2026, Stonebwoy said his close relationship with Mr P allowed him to hear the musician’s side of the story before he publicly opened up about his experiences.
According to Stonebwoy, he first connected with Mr P through a phone call while he was in France with a business tycoon friend. The two later met in person and eventually collaborated on a song.
“Ever since I met Mr P in person, I’ve always admired him as a star. The first time was a phone call. I was in France with a friend who is a business tycoon. That was when I spoke to him and ever since we linked up, we even made a song together,” he said.
Stonebwoy explained that his admiration for Mr P goes beyond their musical relationship, noting that he has also developed a personal connection with the Nigerian artiste.
He further revealed that he is an identical twin himself, although his twin brother died at birth, making him particularly interested in Mr P’s story as a twin.
“As a person, I love and admire him. I’m a twin like him as well. We were also identical twins, but my brother passed on at birth. Sometimes I think about how it’s going to be if he was alive,” he stated.
Reflecting on Mr P’s highly publicised separation from his twin brother and former music partner, Stonebwoy mentioned that the situation had attracted attention across the African continent.
He noted that as their relationship became closer, Mr P shared details of what he was going through with him.
“Mr P’s story shook the whole of Africa when they were apart. When I got closer to him during that period, I got to know everything that Mr P was going through. I’m sure I’m not the first person who knows what was going on, as he came out to speak. He would definitely have spoken to some insiders as well. To see me as an insider that he could share something with, I’ve known the story,” he shared.

Although he acknowledged that he had only heard one side of the dispute, Stonebwoy further stated that he had no difficulty believing Mr P because of the manner in which he narrated his experience.
“Even hearing from one side, I believed him. I believed him for what he’s going through. I’ve also been through a lot of betrayals,” he noted.
Stonebwoy stressed that Mr P did not appear to be interested in attacking or tarnishing the image of the people involved when he spoke to him.
“There are some types of things that when someone tells you, you would be thinking if it’s true or not. When he was telling me the story, he was not badmouthing anyone,” he explained.
He added that unlike people who sometimes narrate their experiences in a way that makes listeners suspicious, Mr P simply appeared to be sharing his pain.
“We hear a lot of people tell their story and the way they narrate it, you will just be listening somehow, but for him, he was just narrating something pure. He just narrated what was happening to him and what he was going through,” he said.
The Ghanaian artiste also disclosed that he has experienced betrayal in his own life, saying someone he helped develop is currently taking him to court.
“As at now, someone that I helped grow and I gave life is taking me to court,” he shared.
As part of his show of support, Stonebwoy read out a message he had sent to Mr P the previous day.
“I just want to tell you how happy I am that the world sees you for who you are now. You’re so pure in heart that you have still been covering for your brothers. I love and appreciate you,” the message stated.
