Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has recounted a dangerous experience on a movie set about 15 years ago that nearly resulted in a serious neck injury.

In a video shared on social media, the filmmaker recalled that the incident happened while he was playing the role of an armed robber in the movie.

According to Lil Win, he was required to perform a dangerous stunt that he believes should have been handled by a trained stunt performer.

However, there was no stunt performer available, so he was asked to jump from a storey building while three cameras captured the scene from different angles.

The actor explained that the safer approach would have been for a professional stunt performer to execute the jump, after which he could have been substituted into the scene for the subsequent shots.

Lil Win said he successfully jumped from the storey building and landed safely on his first attempt. However, because the production was using three cameras and one of them failed to capture the stunt properly, he was asked to climb the building and perform the jump again.

It was during the second attempt that things went wrong.

According to the actor, his leg accidentally got caught on a wire as he was jumping, causing him to lose control of his landing.

He said his neck nearly hit the ground, but he managed to land in a way that prevented what could have been a potentially life-threatening injury.

Fortunately, he escaped a serious neck injury, although the impact badly affected his leg.

“I jumped for the first time and landed safely, but there were three cameras, and they told me that one of them had failed to capture the moment, so I had to jump again. The second time I jumped, there was a wire I hadn’t noticed, and I tripped over it. I could have landed on my neck, but because it wasn’t my time to die, I somehow managed to land awkwardly on my feet. The impact hurt badly,” he recalled.

Lil Win further noted that despite suffering the injury, he travelled to Techiman later that same day to honour a commitment to perform at a show.

He explained that although he was in severe pain, he decided not to cancel his appearance. According to him, the event organiser insisted that he show up because the fans wanted to see him and confirm for themselves that he had indeed been injured.
