Prior to becoming one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians, Ofori Amponsah says he faced repeated rejection from music producers in Accra who believed his songs would never succeed.

Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, the singer revealed that he travelled to Accra in search of producers who would invest in his talent, only to be told that his music had no commercial potential.

“I came to Accra searching for producers, but they did not believe my songs could work,” he said.

Ofori Amponsah explained that his passion for music started during his secondary school days.

According to him, he began looking for opportunities while he was in Form Four and intensified his efforts in Form Five, carrying cassette recordings of his songs from one place to another in search of someone willing to support his dream.

“I started around Form Four. Nobody was willing to help. I was in Form Five, and after school, I picked up my cassette and went around to search,” he recounted.

Despite the lack of support and confidence from industry players at the time, Ofori Amponsah refused to give up on his dream and continued pursuing music until he eventually broke through, becoming one of Ghana’s most successful highlife artistes.
