'We don't know anyone else aside Apostle Safo!' – Osebo declares

Fashionista and devoted member of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Osebo, has urged members of the church to remain firm in their faith in the late founder, Apostle Emeritus Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony held following the funeral of the late founder, Osebo told congregants not to allow the leadership dispute surrounding the church to weaken their faith.

He argued that members worship the God Apostle Safo introduced them to and should not believe that their faith ended with the death of the church's founder.

“We don't compare him to anybody. He is the one who prophesied that nobody in the church will die in ten years and it came true. He even added one more year to it,” Osebo said.

He further questioned why members should attribute the glory of their faith to a human being.

“How does it make sense that someone who cannot convert an ant or lizard, that you want to give our father's glory to him? It is only him we know; we don't know anyone,” he added.

Osebo also urged members to continue attending church despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the succession of the late founder.

“When I came to this church for salvation, I came alone. When you came to this church for salvation, you also came alone.

“Do not allow anyone to tell you that our father's God has been buried with him, so don't go for his funeral. And you too because your thinking is low, you refuse to go," he said.

His comments come amid a bitter dispute over the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

The church has maintained that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena was duly installed as the new leader on June 21, 2026.

The succession dispute was further complicated by a shooting incident at Akofena's residence on the same day. Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was involved in the incident, while police subsequently arrested Akofena and other suspects in connection with the case. Police said weapons and ammunition were recovered during searches.

The dispute also spilled into the funeral arrangements, with Adwoa Safo and Akofena publicly disagreeing over aspects of the late founder's funeral. Adwoa Safo had maintained that her brother had no authority to cancel or postpone the funeral.

At the thanksgiving ceremony, members gathered to celebrate Apostle Safo's life and reaffirm their commitment to the faith he founded.
