Ghanaian MC and hype man Kojo Manuel has called on event organisers to give MCs and hype men the same level of attention and care they offer headline artistes.
Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3, Kojo Manuel stated that MCs often spend several hours on stage and require proper support to maintain their energy and deliver effectively.
According to him, the role of an MC goes beyond simply holding a microphone, particularly when they are required to remain on stage for several hours without a break.
"Treat the MCs and hype men the same way you treat the headline artistes. I've been on a particular stage for like six to seven hours," he said.
He explained that while MCs at parties may have the opportunity to move around, get a drink or take a break, the situation is different when they are the sole MC for a major stage event.

"When it's a party, you can go around or get a drink, but when it's a stage and you're the only MC, you're not going anywhere," he stated.
Kojo Manuel cited his experience hosting the Global Citizen Festival as an example, revealing that he managed to perform despite being on an empty stomach.
"Global Citizen, I did it on an empty stomach and the whole thing is, I need to be hydrated. Ideally, you have to eat, but if you're hydrated, it's cool," he shared.
The MC also advised event organisers and performers to be mindful of what they consume before taking the stage, particularly alcohol.
"You don't need alcohol because the thing about alcohol is that it will take you up and once it starts to wear off, it will bring you down," he explained.
"Treat MCs and hype men the same way you treat headline artistes."
