Ghana-based Nigerian comedian Parrot Mouth, who has consistently criticised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, has explained the reasons behind his concerns about the Nigerian leader.

Speaking in an interview with Headless Youtuber, aired on August 4, 2026, Parrot Mouth said his issue is not with Nigerians but with President Tinubu.

He also questioned the legitimacy of Tinubu’s election, claiming that many Nigerians did not vote for him.

“I don’t have a problem with Nigerians, I have a problem with Tinubu. We did not vote for Tinubu, even Tinubu himself knows we didn’t vote for him. We just woke up and realised he had won the election. Tinubu became President when men slept,” he said.

According to the comedian, he did not initially have any personal concerns about President Tinubu until the Nigerian leader attended the swearing-in ceremony of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025.

Parrot Mouth recalled that during the ceremony, President Tinubu stated that he would support Ghana in its fight against corruption, poverty and unemployment.

However, the comedian questioned how Tinubu could offer assistance in addressing those challenges when, according to him, Nigeria is also struggling with similar issues.

“I did not have a problem with Tinubu until he came to Ghana on January 7, 2025, when Mahama became President of Ghana. He stood at the swearing-in ceremony of Mahama and said he would help Ghana fight corruption and poverty, when that is the same issue facing his own country, where we are the headquarters of that,” he said.

He further argued that if President Tinubu had informed Nigerians beforehand about the message he intended to deliver at the ceremony, they would have advised him to reconsider his remarks.

“If he had told us he was coming to give such a speech, we would have told him to change it. How can you come and say that you will help Ghana fight corruption and help the youth get jobs when we ourselves don’t have work,” he noted.
