Ghana-based Nigerian comedian Parrot Mouth has urged Ghanaians to appreciate and be proud of their country, stating that despite Ghana’s challenges, the country is far better than Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Headless Youtuber, aired on August 4, 2026, Parrot Mouth acknowledged that Ghana is not perfect and has its own shortcomings, but argued that the country’s systems and response to challenges make it feel like “heaven” when compared to Nigeria.

“If I see any Ghanaian saying they are not proud to be Ghanaian, God will punish you because, let’s be honest, Ghana is not perfect, but compared to Nigeria, Ghana is like heaven,” he said.

Parrot Mouth cited Ghana’s handling of power outages as one example of what he considers a better approach compared to Nigeria.

He recalled that in July 2026, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) issued a statement explaining the cause of a blackout, apologised to customers and assured the public that efforts were being made to resolve the situation.

He contrasted this with his experience in Nigeria, where he claimed citizens often face prolonged power challenges without clear communication or accountability from authorities.

“The other day, I saw ECG release a statement explaining that a technical issue was the reason behind a nationwide blackout. They apologised and assured the public that they were working to resolve the problem. Where I come from, we have gone 24 years without stable electricity, and nobody tells you when the situation will improve. No explanations, no apologies, and no accountability,” he noted.

The comedian also compared the response of Ghanaian authorities to the June 29, 2026 floods that affected parts of the Greater Accra Region with what he described as the situation in Nigeria.

He recalled seeing President John Dramani Mahama visit affected areas by helicopter while the weather conditions were still challenging, saying the move showed concern and a willingness to assess the situation firsthand.

He, however, questioned criticism from some Ghanaians who believed the President’s presence was unnecessary.

Parrot Mouth criticised Nigeria’s response to flood situations, claiming that President Bola Tinubu failed to issue a statement or take visible action when floods occurred in parts of the country.

“When Accra was hit by floods, I saw the President of Ghana in a helicopter assessing the situation while it was still drizzling, putting himself at risk to see things firsthand. Yet, some people criticised his decision, saying his presence in the helicopter was unnecessary.

“Come to Nigeria and see the difference. There were floods, but President Tinubu did not even release a statement or take any action. The attitude is often that if you perish, you perish,” he added.
