Ghanaian musician Kojo Blak has revealed that growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness and engaging in house-to-house evangelism has played a significant role in building his confidence and overcoming shyness.

Speaking in a recent interview with Pulse Ghana, the singer reflected on his childhood, describing it as one of the most fulfilling periods of his life due to his deep involvement in ministry.

According to Kojo Blak, he has always been passionate about spiritual activities, including preaching, field service, and other forms of ministry.

“Growing up, it was one of the best moments for me because I’m somebody who is very in tune with godly things like preaching, field service and all those kinds of stuff,” he said.

He explained that his commitment to serving God continued even after he joined Christ Embassy, where he became a member of the church choir because of his desire to remain active in ministry.

The musician said his experience as a Jehovah’s Witness transformed him into a confident person, recalling how he would boldly knock on the doors of strangers to share biblical messages.

Speaking in Ghanaian pidgin, Kojo Blak said he could confidently approach anyone, introduce himself, and begin conversations about faith, often asking thought-provoking questions such as where people believe they would go after death before sharing the gospel.

He noted that the years he spent evangelising from house to house removed any trace of shyness from him.

When asked whether he had stopped evangelising after becoming a musician, Kojo Blak insisted that he still shares the word of God through his music.

“It’s not a switch-up. I am still doing evangelism,” he said.

He added that he believes growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness happened for a reason, saying the experience has greatly influenced the person he is today.
