Health battle leaves John Peasah homebound

Actor John Peasah, popularly known for playing the character 'Drogba' in the hit television series YOLO, has disclosed that his health condition has affected his ability to pursue his dreams and live the life he desires.

Speaking in an interview on Onua Showtime, the actor disclosed that although he is not bedridden, his condition has forced him to stay at home for long periods because of the severe pain he experiences.

He explained that his inability to go out and work is not a choice but a result of the challenges caused by his condition.

“I have a vision, but my situation has prevented me from doing many things, including pursuing my personal goals. I’m home 24/7, and it’s not because I’m bedridden. I can walk and do things, but I’m unable to go out and work because of the pain,” he said.

John Peasah, who is battling a rare neurological disorder identified as a demyelinating disease, also known as Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), revealed that he has visited about 12 different hospitals in search of treatment but is yet to experience the recovery he hopes for.

According to the actor, each medical visit has involved several tests, diagnoses, and medications, but his condition has remained unchanged.

“I have visited about 12 hospitals for cure, and each time, they conduct tests and run diagnoses. They prescribe so many medications that after taking all of them, I feel full. So when food is served, I am unable to eat because I already feel satisfied,” he noted.

John Peasah said his biggest wish is to regain his health and return to a normal lifestyle.

The actor is currently seeking financial support to undergo specialised medical treatment abroad, as he says the required care for his condition is not readily available in Ghana.

According to him, he needs approximately $88,000 to cover the cost of a three-month treatment programme outside the country.
