UK-based Ghanaian event promoter Alordia has dismissed claims that ShattaFest, organised in collaboration with Ghana Party in the Park, oversold tickets, insisting that the event never exceeded 10,000 tickets sold.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session on August 2, 2026, Alordia rejected suggestions that excessive ticket sales were responsible for the crowd crush that led to the event's cancellation in London.

According to him, the organisers could not have sold more than 10,000 tickets because local authorities would not have approved such an arrangement.

Addressing claims that the event had been advertised as sold out, Alordia explained that neither Akwaaba UK nor Ghana Party in the Park ever made such an announcement on their official social media platforms.

He argued that many people relied on rumours circulating on social media rather than information published by the event organisers.

“They didn’t sell more than 10,000 tickets. Do you think the council would make you sell 10,000 tickets? Go to Akwaaba UK’s page or even Party in the Park’s page and check whether we ever posted ‘Sold Out.’ Because of social media, everybody just gets up and says whatever they want,” he said.

Alordia also clarified his role in the event, explaining that although many people associate him with the concert, he was not one of its organisers.

He said ShattaFest UK was organised by Akwaaba UK in collaboration with Ghana Party in the Park, while he, Alordia, only provided support as he has done for several editions of the event over the years.

His comments come after ShattaFest UK, held in collaboration with Ghana Party in the Park, was called off on August 1, 2026, after police stopped the event at Copthall Playing Fields in London following a crowd crush.

According to reports from the venue, police intervened after the venue exceeded its approved capacity, resulting in severe overcrowding at one of the entrances. The congestion triggered a stampede, leaving several attendees injured.

Organisers initially informed patrons that the interruption was temporary and that efforts were being made to restore order. However, they later confirmed that the event had been cancelled.

A police officer addressing the crowd announced that the decision was taken on public safety grounds after “quite a lot of people” were injured during the incident.

Following the cancellation, Shatta Wale’s management expressed sorrow over the events, extending its sympathies to those affected and stating that it was cooperating as investigations into the incident continue.
