Nigerian musician Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has opened up about the highly publicised reunion with his twin brother and former P-Square partner, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, claiming that the reconciliation was not as genuine as many fans believed.
According to Mr P, the reunion that happened in 2021 after years of public disagreement was a “fake reunion”, insisting that his main intention was to restore his relationship with his brother as family and not to bring back the famous music duo.
The singer made the revelation in a video shared on his official Instagram page, where he recounted the events surrounding their reconciliation after their long-running feud.
Peter and Paul Okoye, who became one of Africa’s biggest music acts as P-Square, parted ways in 2017 following disagreements that affected both their personal and professional relationship.
The brothers later reunited in 2021, giving fans hope that the iconic group had returned. However, tensions resurfaced later, with further disagreements involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Mr P explained that the reconciliation process began after he returned to Nigeria from Atlanta. He said he received a message from his caretaker informing him that Paul had apologised and wanted his forgiveness.

“It was a fake reunion. I came back from Atlanta. Before we descended, I got a message from my caretaker that I should forgive Paul because he had apologised,” he said.
He revealed that he attempted to contact Paul after receiving the message but was unable to reach him. However, when he arrived home, he discovered that some members of Paul’s team were already waiting at his residence.
According to Mr P, his wife later informed him that Paul had visited their home in the early hours of the morning and appeared emotional during the encounter.
“My wife came back and held me and told me that Paul came to the house at 4 a.m. and was scared. She recorded the situation. She said Paul kept saying he was tired,” he recalled.
The singer said he was advised to approach his brother since he had already taken the first step towards reconciliation. He said he eventually went to meet him, leading to an emotional embrace between the two.
“I was told that since Paul had made the first move, I should make the second move. I walked to Paul and we hugged,” he noted.
Mr P added that news of their reconciliation reached other members of the family after Jude Okoye’s wife informed Jude that the brothers had resolved their differences.
Mr P said he never had plans to return to P-Square as a group. He explained that while he was happy to reconnect with Paul as a brother, he was not interested in restarting the music partnership.
He recalled that the following day, Paul expressed his desire to rebuild P-Square, but he made it clear that his focus was different.
“I posted a video of my new song. He asked about it, and I asked if he had plans. He said he wanted to focus on P-Square. I told him we are back as brothers, but I am not part of P-Square.”
Mr P further disclosed that Jude Okoye later suggested that the brothers record a video announcing their reconciliation to allow fans to celebrate the moment. However, he said he was not fully convinced about the idea.
“Jude then called and asked that we make a video so that fans could contribute for us. I did not believe in it. We did it, but we did not make the introduction as P-Square,” he said.
Although the reunion generated excitement among fans who hoped to see P-Square perform together again, Mr P said he remained doubtful because of comments Paul made during their celebration that night.
“I did not celebrate, but Paul did. I was still thinking about what Paul said that night. He said, ‘Peter, I do not care if you like what I am about to say or not, but fu*k Rudeboy, fu*k Mr P, bring back P-Square’” he noted.
Mr P maintained that his priority throughout the process was not reviving the music group but rebuilding the relationship between himself and his twin brother.
